Domestic Installations
Domestic installations that we get called out to as emergencies are usually caused by prior work not following the Requirements for Electrical Installations 18th Edition.
The IET Wiring Regulations BSE7671:2018 + Amendment 2: 2022 is a legal requirement for all electrical installers. We pride ourselves in working within these requirements and going above and beyond usual expectations to ensure the job is done right. We take every job very seriously as electricity is a power source which needs to be respected and dealt with in a serious and responsible way. We refuse to compromise when it comes to doing the job right, shortcuts are not an option.
Our aim is leave our customers feeling safer in their homes with the peace of mind knowing the problems have been fixed as a professional job has been done. Showing and explaining to the client what is wrong is important to us. We then explain what we are going to do and leave the site clean and tidy. Sometimes cleaner than when we arrived!
Stokesley
These pictures show what we found when we opened up the consumer unit which was smoking. Of course the client could not see inside the unit and was unaware of how serious the problem was.
The clients had recently moved and noticed a couple of lights and electrical appliances tripping but had not done anything about it. They were busy with other things having recently moved. It was during the Christmas holiday season that they called us and it's a good job they did! Thankfully our advice prior to arrival enabled us to fix the problem before their house was damaged by fire. Upon inspection of the unit, it could have been only a few more hours before this could have happened.
If you have a socket, light or electrical appliance that isn't working as you expect or your electric board keeps tripping do not ignore it. This could be the tell tail sign that all is not well with your electrics.
Consumer Units and Fuse Boxes
Loftus, Brotton, Whitby, Skelton, Hartlepool etc
We have provided various clients with testing and remedial work or full installations of consumer
units. Fuse boxes are a regular stock item in our vehicles too. Depending on where the units are
currently situated and what work is required, we advise each client as to what is needed and
where units could be fitted, if there is an alternative site, or if our client has a preferred location.
Depending on the amount of power that is required, for example for heating, two consumer units
may be needed.
Labelling of any electrical unit or fuse box is all part of our process. It ensures compliance with
regulations and most importantly the electrical safety in your home.
Fault Finding
Redcar
An electric cooker kept tripping on and off and the client called because he couldn't get it to work.
We tested everything and eventually traced the source to this damaged socket which was hidden behind a kitchen wall unit. Yes!, we did have to take the unit off the wall, but after this had been rectified it looked like we had never been there.
Guisborough
This clients’ home had lights kept tripping. Upon inspection we found light fitments which were not fire rated with no double insulation and had no junction boxes, as seen in the image below. These faults could have caused a serious fire, damaging the property let alone placing the clients in serious risk of harm.
Our job involved advising the client regarding the purchase of the appropriate new fire rated fittings. These were installed along with new junction boxes throughout.
Marine Parade, Saltburn-by-the-Sea
Work on a large house which contains several tenanted flats in Saltburn-by-the-Sea on Marine Parade.
This job included adding standard strip lighting, emergency fire LED wall signs and new consumer unit to power this all which was situated in the huge basement.
We also installed emergency sprinkler system in basement and lighting switches as previously there was no lighting or any sort of power.
External sockets, lighting and garden effects
Skelton
Clients wanted a new external security light and sockets fitted. We advised the client what was required and discussed the location of the fittings to ensure their position was optimised. We fitted an external isolator junction box ensuring the work was safe.
Gas Pipe Bonding
Making sure any work we do complies with other utility services is essential. This client did not want additional disturbance in her home and had a limited budget so we fitted trunking to ensure the gas pipe was bonded correctly. Aesthetics are important so we pay attention to little details, like adding corner caps and caulking.
Commercial Services
Thornaby
Having just had a new facia for a retail shop the owner wanted to make the outside stand out more whilst highlighting the CCTV system. They also wanted to make their customers feel safer visiting the shop during the hours of darkness.
After listening to the wishes of the client we installed outside strip lighting and an entrance light fitting. Our work has made the shop look more appealing and the owner, their workers and customers feel much safer.
Industrial Projects
Middlesbrough
Our client, who rents industrial units, needed remedial work to the complex wiring within the work spaces and above the hanging ceilings to bring it up to regulation standards. Having these faults rectified enabled our client to provide all the necessary paperwork for insurance, industry compliance etc., at the same time as making the units safer for his workers.
